It was quite unusual for women to be scientists, but that didn't stop Sarah. She had wanted to be a scientist for her entire life. With the help and encouragement of her parents, Sarah excelled in high school, and went on to attend a prestigious university. There were very few women in the chemistry program at her university, but Sarah managed to find Maria, a young woman who had similar goals. Maria was also a bright scientist who wanted to make a difference in the world. Together, Sarah and Maria worked hard to finish college with honors. Once they had graduated, the two women made it their goal to become successful researchers. They did not have much luck working in labs filled with men, as they were not always treated equally. So Sarah and Maria decided that they would start their own lab, and run their own experiments. And that is exactly what they did. Many years later, Sarah and Maria were awarded for their influential works and breaking research findings.
